Business can’t be the only thing you think about while on the job. You need to step back at times and look at the big picture, and to do that you need to have a little fun. Having been in the business of creating fun corporate activities for multiple clients over several decades, I know a thing or two about why they are essential. Here are three reasons for you and your team to have fun.
- It Puts Things in Perspective
When you get out there and have a good time with the team, it takes everyone away from the work routine and allows for clear thinking. An outing at the park, a coffee shop sit-down, a retreat, and anything else along that vein can really help open everyone’s minds to better face challenges at work, to create new ideas, and much more. Get out there and have a good time and you will see what I mean.
- Helps to Get to Know Each Other
Yeah, that new guy you hired last week – you may know about him, but do you really know him? The answer is likely “no”. This is where some fun activities may help. By getting out there with your team, you can get to know them on a more personal level and find out what drove them to your company in the first place as well as what they want at the end of their journey. The people I work with have a passion for the work that we do here, and I know that because I asked them.
- For Fun’s Sake
One of the primary reasons that corporate fun activities are essential is simply because they are fun. There is nothing wrong with forgetting about work for a bit. We all do it, and we are all the better for it. Taking the time to unwind can help you and your teammates renew energy sources that may be depleted from tough weeks or major projects, and this is a good thing. Being able to wind down will help you in the long run. I can attest to this, in fact, because my career would have been over already if I did not afford myself a break here and there. Remember that part of the journey is having a good time.
After all the events that I have put together over the years, I can assure you that corporate is changing big time. The days of “Office Space” are in the past. New offices are energetic, fun, and filled with new activities each day. Since the turn of the millennium, the work week has become longer, and those additional hours can be tough on anyone. This is where a little fun goes a long way. You don’t want to be left behind so start planning those corporate fun activities right away and then tell us about it in the comment section!
